A GAF certified roofing contractor is the only qualified contractor to install a GAF roof. If you hire anyone else, they can’t install a GAF roof for you and give you all the same guarantees and warranties a GAF contractor can. If you are going to buy a GAF roof, you should know what their famous warranties are and what they cover.
Lifetime Warranties
GAF offers “limited lifetime warranties.” These warranties are limited to the time you spend living in your home, or 30+ years, whichever is greater. The warranties are sold only by GAF certified roofing contractors and only GAF’s contractors can honor the terms of the warranties. You will not be able to purchase a warranty on a GAF roof from any other contractor.
There are many levels of warranties too. Each GAF shingle product and GAF roofing system comes with its own terms and warranty levels. These include:
- GAF Shingle and Accessory Warranty
- GAF Roofing System
- System Plus
- Silver Pledge
- Gold Pledge
Just to give you an idea of what a warranty might cover, the Gold Pledge (the highest priced and greatest value warranty) covers workmanship defects up to thirty years, wind damage up to fifteen years, tear off and disposal of shingles and components at no extra charge, and ten to twenty-five years of algae protection when the shingles are stamped with the Stainguard label.
Return Inspection and Repairs
If anything causes damage to your GAF roof, the GAF Master Elite contractor returns to do an inspection. If it’s ascertained that the damage is covered under the GAF warranty you purchased with your shingles and/or roofing system, the GAF certified contractor files a claim for you and does the repairs. Your cost is covered or minimal, depending on the warranty you chose. It is unlikely that any factory defects or workmanship defects will ever occur because GAF has very strict quality control measures at the manufacturing level.
