There are dozens of shingles manufactured by equally as many roofing product companies. Knowing what products to choose and which ones would be best to replace your roof isn’t an easy decision. However, GAF is a leader in roofing products, and Timberline is one of the best shingle types you can buy. There are numerous benefits, advantages, and reasons why this shingle should be at the top of your roofing project list.

Reason #1: StainGuard Plus Algae System

This patented process coats every shingle with an algae-resistant spray. After the coating dries, the shingles are able to resist algae accumulation for up to 15 years, as the warranty states. It means that no algae will grow on your roof and cause damage or unsightly streaking for several years.

Reason #2: 20 Amazing Solid Colors and Four Blend Colors

Roofs are always black, right? That isn’t the case with GAF Timberline shingles. There are 20 solid colors and four “harvest” blend colors to choose from. Overall, your roof could be any of these 24 color choices you want. Red roof, black roof, green roof, gray roof, and just about any color in between is offered by GAF Timberline. The only downside is that not every color is available in every city and state. (It depends on what the contractors order and are willing to install.)

Reason #3: Wind Resistance Is Unbeatable

When the Timberline shingles are installed with four required GAF roofing accessories, the wind resistance is unbeatable. GAF provides a fifteen-year warranty against any speed of wind, regardless of what that wind speed is, so long as your roof was installed as directed. That means that this shingle product is covered against tornadoes, wind gusts of a hundred miles or more, hurricanes, etc.

Reason #4: Timberline Shingles Lay Quite Flat

Shingles when layered on a roof tend to bulk up and look strange from certain angles. The Timberline line of shingles doesn’t do this. They have a very even and very flat surface. Their unique construction allows them to be layered this way. Even the more unique shapes, like the hexagonal shingles, have a very slim profile.

Reason #5: LayerLock Technology

GAF’s patented LayerLock technology allows for perfect nailing accuracy. Every nail the roofing crew drives to attach a row of shingles is perfectly nailed and does not need to be pulled up and re-nailed. As each new layer goes over the layer below it, the guides built into the shingle strips ensure that no unintentional damage is being done to the layers of shingles below. In fact, each new layer secured helps mechanically lock the layers below in place. Hence, your roof is “layer-locked” in place and is more sound than most other shingle products on the market.

Reason #6: The Famous GAF Warranty

The famous GAF warranty provides extended coverage as standard when the shingles are installed as part of the GAF roofing system. The warranty is an investment in your home that insures it for added protection you wouldn’t ordinarily have. Additionally, the warranty is transferable to future owners of the house. If the shingles aren’t installed as part of the full GAF roofing system, the warranty is limited, but it is still a really fantastic warranty.

Reason #7: You Can See What the Shingles Will Look Like on Your Home

In a modern and high-tech approach, you can see what the Timberline shingles will look like on your home. Take pictures of your home from the front, sides, and back. Select the shingle color you’re considering and click to see the virtual remodel. Do this as many times as you would like to see which shingle color you want. Then let your GAF certified roofing contractor know what you would like.

Reason #8: Installation Is Completed by a GAF Certified Roofing Contractor

GAF roofs require that contractors go through a strict training program and certification process. Only the best contractors make it through the program and receive the certification by GAF. This means that your roof will be installed expertly and will have additional warranties and protection against installation related issues. GAF certified roofing contractors cannot and are not allowed to make errors in installing this roofing system or roofing products like the Timberline shingles. If you want the Timberline shingles, only hire a GAF certified roofing contractor.
